Two specialty shapes that solve two very specific mechanical problems.
V bend. A V bend on the midline avoids any unwanted displacement of the archwire, ensuring the therapeutic treatment previously foreseen with the selected archwire shape. In practice it stops the arch sliding round the arch and losing the planned symmetry.
Reverse Curve of Spee. Superelastic nickel titanium archwires for levelling movements and closure of spaces, also indicated for the correction of bite closure alterations. The inverted curve intrudes the anterior segment while extruding the posteriors, which is what closes an anterior open bite tendency or a deep curve of Spee.
